OK, so who would not love to have a Renoir in their art collection, I know I would, so I have created a set for you called "Renoirs". There are a total of nine paintings in this set, I have only shown two in my image as I did not want to loose the detail on them. These are framed with a Louis XV frame, and have two colour channels (inner and outer frame).

Pierre-Auguste Renoir (184 - 1919) was a French artist who was a leading painter in the development of the Impressionist style. As a celebrator of beauty, and especially feminine sensuality, it has been said the "Renoir is the final representative of a tradition which runs directly from Rubens to Watteau.

Today I have another request from my request page for some Seurat paintings. This is a set of nine paintings that are two tile in size.

Georges Pierre Seurat (1859 - 1891) was a French Post-Impressionist painter and draftsman. He is noted for his innovative use of drawing media and for devising the technique of painting known as pointillism. His large-scale work "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte" altered the direction of modern art by initiating Neo-Impressionism. It is on of the icons of late 19th century painting.

Seurat died in Paris on March 29, 1891 at the age young age of 31, the cause of death is uncertain.

Today I have a set of nine wonderful paintings called "Boats".

Boats have served as short-distance transportation since early times. The earliest boats have been predicted to be logboats. The oldest boats to be found by archaeological excavation are logboats from around 7,000 - 10,000 years ago. The oldest recovered boat in the world is the Pesee canoe; it is a dugout or hollowed tree trunk from a Pinus sylvestris. It was constructed somewhere between 8,200 and 7,600 B.C.

Boats played a very important part in the commerce between the Indus Valley Civilization and Mesopotamia. The accounts of historians Herodotus, Pliny the Elder, and Strabo suggest that boats were being used for commerce and traveling.

Today I have a set of three watercolor paintings. This set is called "Watercolors".

Watercolor painting (also aquarelle from French), is a painting method. A watercolor is the medium or the resulting artwork in which the paints are made of pigments suspended in a water-soluble vehicle. The traditional and most common support for watercolor paintings is paper, other supports include papyrus, bark papers, plastics, vellum or leather, fabric, wood, and canvas. Watercolors are usually transparent, and appear luminous because the pigments are laid down in a relatively pure form with few fillers obscuring the pigment colors.

Today I have an update for you of nine William-Adolphe Bouguereau paintings. This was a request from Janice....thanks for the request Janice, I just may have to do a few more sets; wonderful paintings!!

William-Adolphe Bouguereau (1825 - 1905) was a French academic painter and traditionalist. In his realistic genre paintings he used mythological themes, making modern interpretations of classical subjects, with an emphasis on the female human body. During his life he enjoyed significant popularity in France and the United States, was given numerous official honors, and received top prices for his work. As the quintessential salon painter of his generation, he was reviled by the Impressionist avant-garde. By the early twentieth century, Bouguereau and his art feel out of favor with the public, due in part to changing tastes. in the 1980's, a revival of interest in figure painting led to a rediscovery of Bouguereau and his work. Throughout the course of his life, Bouguereau executed 822 know finished paintings, although the whereabouts of many are still unknown.

As mentioned in my previous post regarding the new sculpture in the new Sims Set "Palace of Versailles", I was a bit disappointed in the "Commissioned By Kings" painting that is actually a sculpture. After making the paintings I thought this would also make a nice mirror, so this is what I have for you called "Commissioned by Kings - Rococo Mirror".
This is a two tile mirror with full credit to EA Games for the mesh, and also has 3 colour channels.

I have done a conversion of the "Commissioned By Kings" sculpture from the new Palace of Versailles set. I was a bit disappointed that this was a sculpture and not a painting to hang on the wall...........so I made it into a painting you can hang on the wall and have called it "Commissioned by Kings - Rococo Painting".

The paintings depicted are those by one of the great French Rococo painters, François Boucher (1703 - 1770). François Boucher was a French painter, a proponent of Rococo taste, know for his idyllic and voluptuous paintings on classical themes, decorative allegories representing the arts or pastoral occupation, intended as a sort of two-dimensional furniture. He was perhaps the most celebrated decorative artist of the 18th century. He also painted several portraits of his illustrious patroness, Madame de Pompadour.

Today I have a set of six paintings by Claude Monet called "Monet Fancy Frame Paintings". These took a bit to figure out, but I think they turned out not to bad. I could have fit all six on the preview, but the detail was lost, so I have four shown so you can see the detail.

Ah, Monet........one of my favorite artists ever!

Claude Monet (1840 - 1926) was a founder of French impressionist painting, and the most consistent and prolific practitioner of the movement's philosophy of expressing one's perceptions before nature, especially as applied to plein-air (open air) landscape painting. The term Impressionism is derived from the title of his painting "Impression, Sunrise".

Today I have a set of six Paul Cézanne landscape paintings called "Cézanne Landscapes".

Paul Cézanne (1839 - 1906) was a French artist and Post-Impressionist painter whose work laid the foundations of the transition from the 19th century conception of artistic endeavour to a new and radically different world of art in the 20th century. Cézanne can be said to form the bridge between late 19th century impressionism and the early 20th century's new line of artistic enquiry, Cubism. The line attributed to both Matisse and Picasso that Cézanne "is the father of us all" cannot be easily dismissed.

Cézanne's often repetitive, exploratory brushstrokes are highly characteristic and clearly recognizable. He used planes of colour and small brushstrokes that build up to form complex fields.

Today I have a set of six three tile paintings called "Dutch Baroque Still Life".

The tradition of still life painting has been around since antiquity, and example of this form of paintings can be found in almost every culture. The popularity of still life is immense, making it very hard to understand why many through out the history of art have excluded it from the category of high arts.

The hierarchy that had developed established that history and religious painting were considered the highest style of painting, while portraiture, scenes of everyday life, animal paintings, landscapes and still life were considered minor forms of art.

These “minor” forms of art were executed by highly talented artists, using the same sophisticated techniques as those used in the more highly regarded fields of history and religious painting. Artists who chose to create still life paintings carefully selected, studied, grouped, and depicted the objects in their works in order to present to their viewer highly realistic images. Still life painting was highly popular among members of all social classes and were often purchased at extremely high prices.

During the Baroque period, masters of still life from Italy, France, Flanders, Holland and Spain painted still life scenes of fruit, flower pieces, musical instruments, fish and game, and vessels used in the household. These objects were painted with the utmost realism but with all the dedication and seriousness that had once been reserved for the human form.
Today I have a set of six abstract paintings without frames called "Colourful Abstract".

Abstract art uses a visual language of form, colour and line to create a composition which may exist with a degree of independence from visual references in the world. By the end of the 19th century many artists felt a need to create a new kind of art which would encompass the fundamental changes taking place in technology, science and philosophy.

Abstraction indicates a departure from reality in depiction of imagery in art. This departure from accurate representation can be only slight, or it can be partial, or it can be complete.

Today I have a simple mirror for you called "Just A Mirror" in six recolours.

The first mirrors used by people were most likely pools of dark, still water, or water collected in a primitive vessel. The earliest manufactured mirrors were pieces of polished stone.

In China, people began making mirrors with the use of silver-mercury amalgams as early as 500 AD. Some time during the early Renaissance, European manufacturers perfected a superior method of coating glass with a tin-mercury amalgam. The exact date and location of the discovery is unknown, but in the 16th century, Venice, a city famed for its glass making expertise, became a center of mirror production using this new technique.

The invention of the silvered-glass mirror is credited to German chemist Justus von Liebig in 1835.

I have a set of six framed Art Deco Posters for you depicting ship travel in the 1930's entitled "Art Deco Posters - Ships".

Art Deco replaced Art Nouveau as the major international decorative style after World War I and continued until World War II. Art Deco represented a machine age aesthetic, replacing flowing, floral motifs with streamlined, geometric designs that expressed the speed, power and scale of modern technology.

Design influences were many, from the modern art movements of Cubism, Futurism and Constructivism to ancient geometric design elements from the exotic cultures of Egypt, Assyria and Persia. In poster art, precursors of Art Deco were the German Plakatstil, the Viennese Secession, the Deutscher Werkbund, and the Parisian fashion design revolution which commenced in 1908.

The style received its name from the Decorative Arts Exposition of Paris in 1925.

I have a set of five Aubusson rugs for you. These are 5 x 3 in size and entitled "Louis XV Aubusson Rugs".

Aubusson rugs date back to the Renaissance period in the town of Aubusson, located on the banks of the River Creuse in the Creuse valley of central France, about 200 miles from Paris. The first looms were likely set up in Aubusson in the 1300's by Flemish refugees, but tapestry and rug production did not begin there until the 16th century.

Aubusson rugs' history is rich and a significant part of the revival of the arts of the Renaissance period. They were hand woven flat wave wool rugs and tapestries originally based on Turkish designs. In 1665 and thereafter, Aubusson rug designs were based on the motifs of Savonnerie rugs. Savonnerie rugs were only availabe to the King, with design and production overseen by the artists and weavers of the royal courts. With Aubusson rug designs mimicking those of Soavonnerie rugs, the became available to anyone who could afford them, typically the upper class and sophisticated aristocracy of Europe.
Rome (or Roma in Italian) is the capital of Italy and Lazio with 2.8 million residents. Rome is also the country's largest and most populated comune and fourth most populous city in the EU.

Rome's history spans more that two and a half thousand years! Founded in 753 BC, it was the capital city of the Roman Kingdom, the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire, which was the dominate power in Western Europe and the land bordering the Mediterranean for over 700 years. The city is regarded as one of the birthplaces of western civilization.

Here is a new set that was requested by Katie entitled simply "Vincent Van Gogh". This is a mixture of still life, portraits, and landscapes.

Vincent Willem van Gogh (1853 - 1890) was a Dutch post-Impressionist painter whose work, notable for its rough beauty, emotional honesty and bold colour, had a far reaching influence on 20th century art. After painful anxiety and frequent bouts of mental illness, he died at the age of 37 from a gunshot wound, generally accepted to be self-inflicted, although no gun was ever found. Modern critics see an artist deeply frustrated by the inactivity and incoherence brought about by his bouts of illness. According to art critic Robert Hughes, van Gogh's late works show an artist at the height of his ability, completely in control and "longing for concision and grace".

Today I have a new set from a request from Katie; a set of nine paintings by Claude Monet entitled "The Japanese Footbridge".

The last decades of Claude Monet's (1840 - 1926) life, his prized water garden at Giverny became a subject the artist explored obsessively, painting it 250 times between 1900 and his death. Eventually, it was his only subject. He began construction of the water garden as soon as he moved to Giverny, petitioning local authorities to diver water from a nearby river. The resulting landscape was Monet's invention entirely, and he used it as his creative focus and inspiration.

Well I have another object that I have done called "Beautiful Bouquet". This is a larger bouquet of flowers is six color varieties that is base game compatible. I figured there are so many beautiful paintings of flowers in vases that I thought I might do an actual vase with flowers!

The arrangement of flowers has a long history throughout the world. The oldest evidence of formal arranging of bouquets in vases date back to 2500 BCE. Ancient practices still survive today, for example in ikebana, the art of flower arranging that comes from Japan. Flower arranging as an art form was brought to Japan by Buddhist monks, who learned it while in China. In Europe, flower arranging as a formal art was first documented among the Dutch, who in particular, painted wonderful informal arrangements of flowers.

Hope you enjoy!

Here is another abstract painting for you that I call "4 Tile Abstract". This painting is from the "Late Night" expansion pack. I was driving me nuts that I could not recolour it..............so I made a few changes and made it into a new mesh so I could make some new recolours!

As noted, this is a 4 tile painting with eight recolours, and is base game compatible.

Hope you like, enjoy!
