The Queen of France

Hello,

Today I have a round portrait painting entitled "The Queen of France - Marie Antoinette".  This is a two tile painting.

Maria Antonia Josephina Johanna (1755 - 1793) born an archduchess of Austria, was Dauphine of France from 1770 - 1774 and Queen of France and Navarre from 1774 - 1792.  She was the fifteenth and penultimate child of Holy Roman Emperor Francis I and Empress Maria Theresa.

Married to Louis-Auguste (later Louis XVI of France) in 1770 and had a total of four children.  On September 21, 1792 Louis XVI was deposed and the monarchy abolished, the family imprisoned at the Temple Prison.  Eight months after Louis XVI's execution, Marie Antoinette was tried and convicted for treason and executed by guillotine on October 16, 1793.
